Mahla is a fresh and innovative Copenhagen-based clothing brand built on three strong values: courage, respect and honesty. It creates products with strong aesthetics, soul and purpose. Furhtermore, Playfulness, functionality and circular design merge together in Mahla's pieces, whose signature style is a vivid blend of street style combined with delicate materials and feminine cuts. 

Its goal is to empower through fashion and handcraft, by employing and supporting people in the vulnerable positions. Instead of making seasonal products, the brand aims for creating timeless, multi-functional clothing and having a production based on the demand. Mahla is shaping the future of fashion with attention to quality, diversity and respect for our planet.


Value Chain

About value chain its products are made from carefully selected sustainable materials: a combination of organic, natural fabrics, recycled fibers and wide variety of up-cycled materials. 

All its products are proudly manufactured locally in the Northern Europe. 

All cardboard boxes the brand uses are FSC-certified. It uses Re-Zip reusable packaging for online orders and the garment bags are 100% bio-degradeable, home-compostable and marine-safe bio-plastics.

Moreover, it uses DHL's GoGreen climate neutral service.


Community

During the years the brand has supported a great number of organizations such as: Doctors without Borders, Danner (Womens safehouse in Copenhagen), Together We Push (non-profit organization helping refugee families with children at the Danish deportation center Sjælsmark), Girls 2 Girls, Black Lives Matter, Fashion Revolution, WWF - World Wildlife Foundation and more.

Moreover, Mahla is proud to be a supporting member of Alakulttuurikeskus Loukko (Loukko Center of Subcultures). Loukko is a venue for arts, cultural happenings and meetings, operates on the principle of a safer space and aims at being accessible on all levels. The brand supports their work with yearly payments.


Customer Care

Mahla makes repairs and alterations of products and provides information for the garment care to maintain products condition and expanding the life-cycle.

3 Is your communication correctly inspired by your degree of sustainability? What should you do to improve that?
We try to communicate about sustainability in consistent manner, in the way that we both inspire and educate our audience and customers. There is definitely some prints that could be improved in the communication in general, so that we could reach more potential customers.
4 What about your certifications?
We are using The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS)-certified organic cotton fabrics. GOTS-certification ensures the organic content of textiles and but also the socially responsible and fair manufacturing all along the supply chain, from harvesting of the raw materials, to the ready product.
