Yume Yume is an innovative international design collective that brings together artistry and fashion.
The footwear collection is made mostly in Portugal factories, except for a one style developed in Far East. Although this style is made from 100% recycled materials and quality is guaranteed by Vibram sole.
Portugues collection is made with gan leather also partly bio-based (40%).
Yume Yume has been studying and creating a developments will include shoes with an outsoles made from recycled rubber.
Furthermore the brand has been launching a recycling program in partnership with its Portuguese facilities. They will use old samples and used YUME’S to make into new shoes or components for shoes. This will give the opportunity to let our costumers use their shoes and return them to Yume Yume creating a collection with 100% recycled materials supporting circular economy. Minimum waste will be the goal.
In terms of renewable energy Yume Yume's office has a green energy contract and in the supply chain it chose an outsole supplier that has its own solar panels above their facilities.

Is your communication correctly inspired by your degree of sustainability or do you think you could improve that?
I think that sustainability and keeping in mind the earth and our living surroundings is a key value of this time. We as a brand are always seeking for new ways to involve and work towards the future with this. As I find sustainability something that should be integrated in all brands as a standard we have not communicated a lot about this. This because we don’t want to make it a marketing tool or just using sustainability as a label to sell more. We are at the moment working on a communication plan and see how we can implement this vision in our communication strategy for the future.
In which area/activity and how do you want to improve your sustainable business approach in the closely future?
• Raw Materials
|We already sourced vegan materials that are bio-based. We would like to find more of this and also when we grow would like to produce our own vegan leathers, where we can manage every little detail on look, feel, quality and sustainability.|
|We would like to ship the wholesale orders directly from our factory in Portugal to the stores all over the world instead having them first come to Netherlands. This always costs a lot of time and directly shipping from Portugal will reduce pollution.|
• Charity & Donations - Sustainability Campaign & Events
|When our company starts to make profit we will be able to give back to a charity that takes care of nature. Also we would like to create an awareness campaign with our upcoming recycling program in collaboration with an modern art museum.|
• Circular Economy
|We are looking into how to reduce our CO2/ carbon footprint. first we need to make our pollution as a company measurable then we can set goals on how to improve.|
